Black Crow Pottery
I am a maker at heart who creates decorative and functional domestic and ware as well as ceramic sculpture. Most of my pottery is made using beautiful red earthenware that uses Nova Scotia clay as the main ingredient. Influenced strongly by my environmental landscape, historical ceramics, and everyday events, I look to the past and present while considering the future of ceramics. Much of my work has a personal connection vital to what I want to communicate. I want my work to show evidence of the handmade, to express the comfort and ritual of daily use, and to represent community, sharing, and ritual.
I graduated with a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in 2011 and started Black Crow Pottery in 2012. During my education I was awardeda number of scholarships andearned an honorable mention in an art competition for the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation. I have also participated in a solo and several group exhibitions and participated in the Summer Professional Development Residency with the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design.
